DEEP-SEA FANS & LANDSCAPES

A perspective paper on how deep-sea fans are a remote but invaluable record of changes occurring across various landscapes. This is especially true for the long transition from a global greenhouse roughly 60 million years ago to the icehouse climate of today. International efforts to sample deep-sea fans have contributed major breakthroughs in our understanding of continental erosion, and the transfer of that sediment and organic matter to the seafloor.
